I got a timex HRM for christmas last year and used it a few times, but then lost it. I just found it and the watch still works fine but I cannot get it to connect with the HRM so I put new batteries in and it still will not connect to the watch.

Is there some trick to fix this that someone has come across or do I need to just go out and buy a new one.

1. Did you put a new battery in both the watch and the chest strap?
2. Are you wetting the contacts on the chest strap and making sure it's on good and snug?

That's all I can think of.

Do not buy a new one! You need to mail the HRM monitor to Timex and they will send you a new one for free. I got a free box to ship it back to them at Wal-mart in their watch/jewelary department.

In my situation the watch broke and so I mailed it back to them and they send me an entire bodylink system a week later at no charge. The interesting thing about that is that I only owned the watch and the HRM monitor so they actually upgraded my system!

It was purchased right around a year ago and the warranty is only for a year

It's still probably worth a try to return it. The worst thing they can say is no, and then you're not in any different position than you are right now.

I had a cheaper Timex HRM (non-ironman, $49 at Target). While it was never exactly broken, it never exactly worked very well either. Every time I ran by a utility pole or other power source the readout would shoot to 220 and stay there for a minute or so.

Just a really stupid question here, but did you make sure that you put the batteries in facing the right direction. I don't want to seem like I am insulting you, but I had a problem with my cycling computer not working after the winter storage, I made the battery change and it still didn't work, it ended up that I had put them in incorrectly. Good luck getting it fixed.

As with other wireless devices, do these transmitter/receiver sets need to be re-paired (reintroduced to each other) when batteries are changed or when they are out of range for extended periods of time?
