Arizona Tempe Town Lake
got a link to the article explaining guessing the AZ republic covered it right? Well I know that they have to test to water to make sure its ok for us to swim in, there was a big issue with that with a triathlon in Washington D.C., so if the water isn't up to par they will have to move the venue someplace else.....Tucson is a much better location for triathlons anyways =p

Tucson is nice, but we should have events both places!
As for Tempe Town Lake, the director called me and said they will meet the requirements for the county and state for full body contact and that the water will be just as clear and safe, and not smelly. So, we shall see! They do seem eager to keep the tri events here.
Well I think that USAT has to test the water themselves for it to be a USAT sanctioned event, where is Kylie when we need her. Not sure exactly who water you can't drink can pass some of those tests since lets face it how ends up drinking about 9 gallons of what ever water your swimming in besides me?

Hey I don't know all the USAT rules off the top of my head :-P I'm just good at searching their PDF of rules (most that I've learned has been because people asked on here).

The plan still has to be approved by the Arizona Department of Environmental quality and get about $10M worth of funding to build the pipeline. They expect it to take about 2 years. Because of all the events held there, it is already the most frequently tested / treated body of water in the Phoenix area. I am surprised the Golf Course Lobbyist will let this happen; they need the reclaimed water for all the golf courses around town…a lot more money in golf courses than a few triathlons, rowing events, etc.

So Tempe is going to use treated sewer water in Tempe Town Lake. This water is unsafe to drink. Anyone know if swimming events will still be held in the lake? And what are the health repercussions if we do swim there?
