wireless computer dropout

I just got a cateye wireless computer for my new bike and took it out for it's maiden voyage this morning. I had periods where both the speed and cadence would drop out then pick back up after a few seconds. Is this normal for a wireless computer? I wouldn't think so, but I've never had a wireless computer and wondered if they were just really touchy. Thanks.

I have the Cateye double wireless - only time I had an issue was when the speed sensor got bumped out of position and had too big of a gap to the magnet. Other than that it has been great.

I agree with RV. I have the cateye double wireless and the only time I have ever had any issues is if the magnets are to far away from the sensor.

I have the Cateye CC-CD300DW double wireless. I feel that you are to far away from the sensor. Double check

It can also depend where you are riding: I know that when I ride along a dam near my house many wireless computers get interference and dropout, and the same for a section under lots of huge power lines.

But if it was consistently doing it, yeah, check the placement of the sensors.

I'll check the sensors and try to keep track of if it happens in any specific areas. We have some power lines, but nothing on the order of a power generation plant such as a dam.

I loved the Cateye Double Wireless. Unfortunately, my tri bike didnt like it. By the time the sensors were close enough to the magnets, all it took was a slight shift in the position of the sensor to get it wacked by the crank arm or spokes. Riding a 60cm frame probably didnt help, as it put the headunit as far away form the sensor as Cateye recomended.

I also had HR monitor inteference issues (Sigma Sport HR.) This was all solved with a Garmin Forerunner 305. HR, cadence, speed, and GPS all intergrated into one unit. I will say that Cateye was OUTSTANDING in customer support. They replaced one head unit (broken bracket= lost computer) and THREE rear sensors, no questions asked. Thumbs up there. But breaking sensors got annoying.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
