Hi everyone,

I'm a 51 year old runner turned triathlete. In 2002, I decided (that is, my body decided) to try swimming and biking to help get my excercise "fix" during increasingly frequent running injuries. As you might guess, I fell in love with those activities, and have done a few tri's since, including my first IM this past year. That was the experience of a lifetime, even though I was very undertrained due to (you guessed it), a running injury. I really like this forum, and the helpful, positive attitudes that I've seen among the participants. I want to eventually try to properly train for, and complete, another IM. I have a lot to learn, but I also have many years of experiences to share as well...mostly as a runner. I hope to be more active on this site, and look forward to "meeting" other athletes.
P.S. I saw a post from Bothrops, and, unless I'm mistaken, we share a common non-triathlon related interest. I've caught and studied Crotalus (on an avocational level), and I continue to keep and breed Chondropython and others. E-mail me at if you see this post. Dave

Hey Dave,

Looks like you've been a member for a while but just posted your first message.:) Well, welcome to the site even though you've been around and congrats on doing a IM so early in your triathlon career. Hope to see you around here more often and look forward to reading some advice on running and hearing more about your training & racing experiences.
