Boca Grande, FL Just North of Hurricane landing
this reply is a month late, but i had to say something. i was at the boca bop as a spectator. i was so inspired by the race that i dusted off my old road bike, dug out my running shoes and contacted the venice fla ymca about swim programs. i am planning to compete in at least 4 sprint tri's beginning in april in sarasota. by the way, boca grande is an old florida town on gasparilla island about 10 minutes from where i live. its beaches are pristine, the roads and bike trails are in great condition, and the weather is second to none dispite the unusual hurricaines this year. the water was 79 degrees, the bike and run was flat and paved and the event looked very organized from my veiwpoint. cant wait for next year, hope to see you there
That's great...rub it in bro, It's 30 degrees and snowing here, just kiddin ya. It is cold and snowing here, but I'm glad your getting back into the sport and your weather is great. I just spent 1 hour and a 1/2 on my cycling trainer watching tv.....come on spring, alllllready in Nov.

I guees I'm looking at this race as my selfish good deed. I'm using a The Boca Bop Tri as an excuse to head down to Punta Gorda and spend a little money in their town. (It also give'sme an excuse for a three day weekend.)
I was hoping to get a little info on the race. Their Web site doesn't say anything about size of the crowd. It does say how great the race is and that they won an award in 2001 but I haven't heard or read anything about it.
I don't know the area and was hoping to make a long weekend out of the race but am not sure of the area. Has anyone heard of it or actually run in it?????
Thanks.
T. :)
