Prep'ing for Sprint tri Apr 08
Great training plan on this site: http://www.trifuel.com/triathlon-training/Sprint-Triathlon-Training.php and something similar on trinewbies. If you're looking for something more detailed, Training Plans for Multisport Athletes, by Gale Bernhardt is comprehensive and covers all distances.
Try to build a base in all 3, sbr, during the winter months, maybe a couple of trips to the pool a week, spend time on a trainer, stationary or real bike if you can and continue with the running. It doesn't have to be rigorous, just enough to maintain fitness levels until you begin a training plan.

Actually i lie.. it was 48 minutes haha.. when i read all this flattering posts i couldnt believe my eyes and had to double check my time from last year. I did that time with the flu and oversize overweight mountain bike that i rented! So im hoping to closer to the 40 mark this year.

Heres the split:
Swim 8:24

The best time amongst our colleagues was 34 minutes! The split: S7:31 B15:52 R11:01
The bike dragged my time down BIG TIME! Also i know that my transitions were shocking. I got lost twice finding my bike and putting it back on the rack. And my shirt wouldnt go on right after the swim.
Just wanted to ask: Ive read somewhere about strength training. What does this usually include? i have a body building background so immediately i think: Bench press, Squats, Dead lifts etc. But iam accustomed to low reps high intensity. Is this the same when strength training for tri's?
If you rented a road bike next year and changed nothing else you would likely come very close to your goal.

Ah, SuperSprint - Going sub-hour on a Sprint is really fast.
Transitions are really important. Putting a shirt on over a wet body is tough. Go w/o if allowed. No socks if you are able - both bike and run. And walk the transition area Swim In, Bike Out, Bike In, Run Out to be familiar with everything before the race - so no lost time during the event. Riding a road/tri bike will make a big difference. I did some reading on trifuel articles but couldnt find what i was looking for.
Can any one suggest an appropriate training programme i should follow up until race day?
Ive been doing abit of running during the 'off season'. Usually 10kms in an hour (best time was 50mins). My last decent run was about 2 months ago.
