Lydiard
Thanks. I came across an internet article that referred to steady state running that they cited as being from Lydiard and was trying to get more info on that.
I had the honor of sitting at his feet and listening to him give a talk once. It was in the Late 70's and I lived in Colorado Springs...some of us drove up to Boulder to hear, what was really more of a chat, at Frank Shorters shop on Pearl St.
Be advised...Lydiard was the reason many of us were running 100+ mile weeks.
He is a proponent of HIGH milage...coupled with a generous helping of speed work.
No rest Days.
I've fallen away from it now as my body won't allow it any longer...although sometimes I long for a good 100+ mile week!
Here is a training plan I pulled from a friends web site that will give you an idea of what the training is like. http://www.ultrunr.com/lydiard.html
I have an old copy of Art's book. It's great and a wonderful addition and a must read for any serious runner.

HADD also talks about Lydiard and his methods. It might be worthwhile to look that script over man. http://www.mytrilife.com/hadds/Part_I.htm

Anyone familiar with the Lydiard method for run training? How do you find it? I was also thinking of putting one of his books on my xmas list - any suggestions?
