10 Weeks for Marathon to short?
I would suggest that you look at a typical marathon training plan and see where your current level of running places you, and see if you are ten weeks out. From what it sounds like, I think you will be more than 10 weeks out. However, depending on your current level of fitness, you could be in good enough shape to make up the difference. 10 weeks is about 2.5 months which is a fairly long time, and depending on your current level of fitness, this might be doable, but when you try to compress the amount of training time, the risk of injury increases.
You could always go into the marathon with the mentality that you will run what you can and walk the rest.
10 weeks is plenty of time (unless you're soft), especially if you already are, and have been running a bit. If 4 hours isn't a fast time you just want to make sure you're getting some good long runs in. If 4 hours is going to be a challenge, then you'll want to make sure you get some 'speed work' in.
Read a few different training plans and identify the bits you think will work for you.
You're going to want to get in a slow 18+ mile or 3 hour long run at 4 weeks before the marathon. This should give you enough time to prepare for the long run mileage and enough time to recover for the marathon. Iron Dan has a good point, find a 12 to 16 week plan and adapt it to where you are: both runner's world and running time magazines have good online plans.
if you train smart, you can do it.

I don't need to get faster, I just need to get older!
Cayman is "right on!" Train smart...you're already doing 25 a week. Long runs are key. Advice varies about where to put the last long run, 3 or 4 weeks out. Adapt a plan. Pay attention to race day planning. To be honest...I think if your friend is expecting you to run the event with him, he could be doing you a dis-service. He's been focused on this. You haven't. You won't catch up to his level in time.
That means he has to be comfortable with you running YOUR race and the pace you need. Finally...this could hurt. Embrace that and go with it.
Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to do it but am expecting it to a hurt a bit.
Just to make a quick note, I already can run faster and longer then my friend who is doing this marathon. I'll be helping him keep a pace not the other way around.

Is your goal to just finish or do you expect to finish within a certain amount of time? If it's your first, go with the "just finish" attitude. I'm running the Redding Marathon on January 13th and I just started to train for it with speedwork so I can get to the finish line earlier, ha! But then, I already have a solid endurance base so I should be ready. Good luck and congratulations on pursuing marathon distance!

One of my best friends who knows I do triathlons want me to do a full marathon with him, problem is that is only 10 weeks away. I did a half marathon with little to no training but I'm thinking that for the full I need more training. Currently I'm putting in around 20-25 miles per week. Think that is enough or am I just going to hurt myself trying for this? Oh yeah and goal is sub 4hr total.
