All,
Have a question for the tubular folks out there. My local source for TUFO tubulars is drying up, and I'm wondering if I can use other tubulars with the TUFO tape? I'm assuming that I can, but would like to know if anyone has tried this.

The TUFO tape holds really well, so much so, that I had to really struggle to replace a tire during the last race of the season. I ended up with bruises on my legs from trying to pull the tire off. ( No rim damage though!!!)

No problems, I use them on Contiental Competitions.

Dunno if you know of the method, but carry a "blade" carpet knife or similar blade with you in the kit bag during a race and just slice the tire then pull. Maybe you already know this but it makes the tire change faster and less of a "pain in the arse". Other tape works just as well i find. You can also buy brands that stand better to higher temperatures as well. Check the LBS. Hope this helps.

I've used it with Vittoria's without a problem.

All,

I contacted TUFO, and here is what they said:

"It is not recommended, the tape has been specially formulated for Tufo tires, for clear cotton base tape and round profile without sew up joint"

Since others have had success with other tires, I may give that a shot... Of course, having the S33 Specials with the yellow sidewalls is so cool and fast looking.

Matching Paint Schemes, of course it makes the bike faster.......
