trainings been going good lately but in the last few days i've had a slight chest infection, i think this is due to the sudden weather change, it seems to have gone from summer to winter in about a week.
it's nothing too serious but i haven't done any training just in case it blows up into something more harmful.
am i being a bit of a wimp? should i just go out there and get on with it and just train till it goes away?
i feel a bit lethargic but apart from that i'm sure i could still train, just not at the same intensity. thanks for the advice!

I just got over a really bad chest cold myself. It took about two full weeks until I felt pretty much back to myself and during that time I was extrememly aggravated about the lost training time. I felt like I was taking a step back and would basically have to make up those two weeks. What I found out was that my first training back was a bit rusty, but after that I felt great and was right back where I was before. It really surprised me. I think you are better off just getting better first and not pushing the envelope while being sick. Think about what you are to gain working out sick and at half full vs. recovering and getting right back on the saddle. This is just my opinion, maybe my situation is not the norm? Hope you kick it soon and feel better.

Someone posted back a while ago that when you were feeling sick to use the above or below the neck rule. Usually if you just have something like a head cold, getting out and doing some low intensity work may actually speed up recovery, but with anything in the chest it's better to just take it easy. I've followed this and found that it works for me.

thanks to you both for the advice, i just started up training again two days ago after a week of doing absolutely nothing and i thought i'd have to take things easy, but it's like you said triquest, i felt a bit rusty but nowhere near as bad as i thought i would be.
thanks again

I agree. I got my Fall cold in September, regular as clockwork, I stopped everything for a week, then did light workouts the second week as my energy came back. I was careful not to get out of breath or breathe hard which would aggravate the air passages. I could do weights, and sit in a hot tub or steam room really well. :)

Remember, you didn't get fit in 2 weeks, you won't get un-fit in 2 weeks.
