Well i cant sleep, so I thought i'd post. I did the Chicago marathon today and it is such an awesome race. The crowd support is amazing. I reached my time goal of breaking 4 hours, 357 to be exact. But I paced horribly and really paid the price the last 10 miles. I went out way too fast. Now im in so much pain, i cant even sleep! But its worth it, its always worth it. Because in a few days I'll feel better and the accomplishment will never go away. Although next year, I know I will run even faster! ;)

Congrats Deejay! Good job on reaching your goal.

It was an awesone race. Weather was good, I would of liked cooler. The crowds were everything past participants said they would be. If you couldnt sleep last night it says something about your conditioning. I on the other had had no problem sleeping, except for the pain that kept waking me.

Hey Mike and Deejay.

Chicago was my first marathon and I had a blast! Flew up from KC with several people from our running club who had done the event several times. The crowd was amazing and the support really keeps you going. I can relate to the going out too fast deal DeeJay. Two weeks ago was the US Half Tri Championship here in KC and I went out way too fast in the first 4 miles (7:57 per) and paid for it the last 6 miles.

So for the marathon I started with our club folks, but let them go and ran my own pace. My goal was 3:45. I was able to maintain 8:20 to 8:45 up to about mile 16. Mile 26 was brutal (PR was 22 miles) and I finished 3:54:32. I'll take it!!!
A guy in our club did 3:30 which I thought was awesome. (his 30th marathon).
The others were from 3:39 to 3:45.
My legs woke me up a couple times last night too!! Quads are still feeling it :)

Congrats to you both! Who knew other tri-fuel folks were in the crowd!!
See you next year for sure!
