Trainer Videos?
i have absolutely no idea about training videos or anything of that sort, but i have a question for you....
when does it get rainy and cold in baton rouge? and how cold are we talking here? i'm going to be doing my clinical rotation there next sept/oct and was hoping to take my bike with me, but should i not?
sorry, i got curious.... :) back to the regular bike post.

Well being from Boston you will probably laugh at Baton Rouge "winters," but when you're used to the heat and humidty all the time cold is a relative term. It varies from year to year, but starting in November it hangs around in the 40's a good bit. December we might get a few hard freezes, but rarely in the 20s for very long. Jan. is typically a dry cold month.
February-April you can generally expect a lot of overcast and rain (especially last year). By half way through April it's getting pretty again. If you like to ride in the rain then it shouldn't be a problem for you.
Once again, weather down here is wild so each year may vary. Last year was a lot rainier than it usually is.
Here's the local club I ride with: batonrougetri.com Take everything in the forum with a grain of salt as we have some characters in the group, but it's a great club to be involved with. Look us up when you get down here.
Hope this helps,
Matt

That's what I love about arizona.. I can ride year round, the only thing that changes is the time of day I can ride. I can use my fingers to count the days it's rained in the last year, and snow isn't a problem.
Very rarely does it drop below 40F even in december. It takes nearly every piece of cycling clothing I own to keep me warm, but it's still bearable.
Are you planning on doing IMAZ Ted? We have about 20 or so people from BR headed that way in '05 for the race.
Matt
ted- that is exactly what i miss about AZ! i lived in tempe last jan-june and loved it. although i was born and raised in the northeast, i hate the cold! as soon as i'm done with college, i'm heading south... preferably south and west again! i love AZ. my friends there are the ones who got me into tris. and if you ever need PT, i know a great clinic out there (where i used to work.... ;)) but hopefully you'll stay healthy! happy training!

and matt, thanks for the info, i feel better knowing that you were talking about a southern "cold" winter. i'll definately bring my bike and look up your tri club... i was thinking about some races while i was there...? i mean, i have to take advantage of the great weather, right? happy training!

I'm a student at ASU so.. The tempe campus area will be a great place to hang out when you come out here. Unfortunately the IMAZ falls during my indoor archery schedule, so I won't have enough time to train for a full ironman.
I do plan on competing in the Collegiate Tri Nationals at Lake Havasu in april though (GO ASU CYCLING!!), which will be olympic distance
I'll probably be out at IMAZ taking pictures though.

Hey all,
With the rainy cold months coming up it's about time to dust off the trainer. Do any of you use any of the training videos/dvd's out on the market? Last year I got horribly bored just riding on the trainer and usually ended up cutting workouts short because of it. My trainer came with a free Train Right video for hills but I'm looking for something that has some speed workouts on it. I'd appreciate any advice.
Happy racing,
Matt
