The 2008 HulaMan Triathlon consists of a 1.2 Mile Swim at Henry Hagg Lake, a challenging 56 Mile Bike through rural Yamhill & Washington County wine country, and a 13.1 Mile Run through Helvetia. Done Hawaiian Style amongst the Northwests short warm season, the HulaMan has fast become one of the most revered triathlons in the Great Northwest and a welcomed complement to the triathlon calendar. For 2008 we will be limiting this tremendous experience to a field of 500 competitors, we welcome your early entry.

SWIM COURSE INFORMATION -

The HulaMan swim course is a clockwise loop held at Henry Hagg Lakes boat ramp C. Waves are separated by age groups [with a limited field of 100], the time gap and order of which will be determined by the size of field registered. An elite/pro wave will kick-off the event and consist of those who pre-register and elect to be included in the first wave. Swimmers will keep the swim buoys on their right-hand side for the entire swim. The swim is anticipated to be in the mid to upper 70s, and will be monitored by lifeguards in kayaks as well as emergency rescue in motorized boats.

For your safety, and the necessary permitting of this event, the swim course will remain open for one-hour and thirty minutes after the last wave of swimmers begins. Those unable to finish the swim will be encouraged to continue the event following the last swimmers exit on to the bike course.

BIKE COURSE INFORMATION -

Dont let the term Valley fool you, Yamhill and Washington County offer their share of challenges to compliment this remarkably scenic course. Its many rolling hills promise to be as abundant as its views. Beginning at Henry Hagg Lake, the BIKE COURSE features a once around clockwise loop and then an exit past the dam, ending at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, located off of Cornelius Pass Rd, at NW 229th Avenue, South of Hwy-26.

The course will be monitored and USAT rules regarding drafting and safety related violations will be strictly enforced. Technical assistance will be provided at T1 via AthletesLounge and on course via a one time reverse sweep and sag vehicle following the last biker.

Two Water bottle exchanges will be provided on the course. To get a new bottle you must move to the far right shoulder of the marked area, discard a bottle and slow to a max of 15mph to receive a bottle from a volunteer. Please keep the course clean and the area residents happy by discarding your trash (gel packets, water bottles, banana peels, cups, etc.) at the provided aid stations.

A complete course profile with mile marks and elevation charts has been prepared. AthletesLounge will host several Timed Preview Rides [dates TBD] leading up to the event, as well as an InsideRide based indoor experience which is open to the public on a first come- first served basis.

RUN COURSE INFORMATION -

The HulaMan 13.1 mile RUN COURSE is a relatively flat 2 lap out and back beginning & finishing at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, located off of Cornelius Pass Rd, at NW 229th Avenue, South of Hwy-26. Aid stations are provided at each mile on the run course and will be serving electrolyte, water and nutritional replenishment provided by our generous sponsors. The run course will be open for eight hours after the event begins, at which time the course will be opened to regular traffic. Escorts will be provided to those able to finish the course in less than 10 hours; all others will be picked up and brought to the finish.
