The Fourth Annual Stanford Treeathlon makes its off-campus debut this year at the Port of Redwood City in Redwood City, California. Collegiate, age group and relay options are available.

The Treeathlon is the primary fundraiser for the Stanford Triathlon Team. Funds raised from the race sustain our mission to raise awareness of the sport and to expose students to triathlon at an early age.

The Treeathlon is also Stanford University's contribution to the West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (WCCTC) race series, and we will have separate collegiate and non-collegiate divisions for entry.

The Full Stanford Treeathlon is a sprint distance triathlon, which consists of the following three events:

500 Meter Open-Water Swim: A quick, lifeguard-supervised swim through a protected cove of the Port of Redwood City (an offshoot of the San Francisco Bay). The water temperature in February/March can be chilly (low 60s), and a wetsuit is strongly recommended. Personally, we think that you're a few wickets short of a full croquet set if you choose to swim without a wetsuit, but we will allow that option for those who sign an additional waiver indicating that they acknowledge the risks involved.

The swim will start in waves according to division and how gratuitously you lie about your expected finish time.

Concerned about the South Bay water quality? We had a water quality test done on the swim course, and it passed all tests with room to spare!

T1: PLEASE NOTE: From Swim-Out to the Transition Area is a run of about 200 m. The road will be clean, but if you have tender sensitive feet, you can place shoes or sandals near the Swim-Out to make the short run a little more comfortable.

20 Kilometer Bike: Three fast and flat lollipop loops down Seaport Blvd and around a nearby office park loop. We don't know about you, but we love lollipops.

5 Kilometer Run: Three flat and scenic loops along the bay near Seaport Court.
