Olympic, Sprint and Mini distance events starting at 8:30 am on June 15, 2008. The Fairmont triathlon was one of the first multisport events in Minnesota. This was a very popular USATF sanctioned race in the 1980s and is making a comeback after a 20-year hiatus. Situated on the Great Plains, just off of Interstate 90, Fairmont, a/k/a The City of Five lakes, is an ideal location for a multisport event. The race is held annually on Father's Day and the race site is tailor-made for a family event with a nearby swimming area, playgrounds, picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, boat launch, a children's race (the Mini) and a post-race BBQ.
