When: July 6, 2008

Type: Ironman

Frankfurt
Germany (Deutschland)

Age Group Slots: 113

There will be a water start of all competitors at the same time (no wave start). It is a two-lap-course with a short running passage between the two laps.

Thousands of spectators around the lake will see a spectacular swim start and can follow the race very close to the athletes.

The bike course will take the athletes not only through the spectacular Downtown of Frankfurt but also through beautiful landscapes of the surrounding countryside.

A 15 km connection leads the athletes from "Langener Waldsee" to Downtown Frankfurt (Mainkai), onto the 2-loop bike course through the surroundings - every kilometer on completely closed roads!

Traditional Half-timbered houses in Maintal-Hochstadt: this is supposed to be a very crowdy place on race day!

Bad Vilbel Main road with a steep incline. This place should become a special point creating a "Tour de France Atmosphere" with thousands of spectators along the street.

Complete run course along the river "Main" facing the skyline of Downtown Frankfurt. Flat course which allows fast marathon splits. The race will be followed by thousands of people along the bank of river "Main".

Nota that the run course is 4 x 10k loops. Easy to keep track.

They have shuttles available from incredible hours early in the morning...
I think you still can find the info on the site, for '07 race.

Thanks. Now that I think about it, I should have figured they'd have shuttles. At IM North America events they have shuttles for spectators, so it makes sense if the start is a few miles away from the finish that Germany would have shuttles. My German is nicht gut.

TriSooner,

How's your training coming along?
What kind of race have you been doing? It sounds crazy!!!!

We (the other 2 guys & I) have completed our own training camp, near Mount Fuji. Lots of hills for my sorry legs...
