Description
The Super Sprint Tri has a 400 yd swim ( or 2 mile run for Duathletes) - 8 mile bike - 2 mile run: designed for First Time Athletes and anyone looking for a fun short course. Rancho Seco Park is the perfect outing for your first or best Triathlon!
Race will start at 9 am. Finisher medal given to each athlete. Post race hot food and free athlete massage along with tons of raffle prizes.
Swim Course
The 400 yard swim will be in Rancho Seco Lake with a beach start and finish. The course will be clockwise direction and marked with large orange buoys. It will be staffed by lifeguards in safety kayaks. Water temperature should be approximately 70 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed . The swim exit will be up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.
Bike Course
The bike course starts off within the park at Rancho Seco for the first 2 miles and then turns onto highway 104, monitored by CHP officers, for a 2 mile out and back loop. After a left turn back into Rancho Seco Park you finish around the lake and back into transition area. The bike course is fairly fast.
You must maintain at least THREE bike length at all times behind the rider in front of you, and you MUST ride single file while on the Highway. Passing is allowed in a timely manner when it is safe to do so. After passing return to the right side of the road and continue to ride safely. Failure to do so will result in a drafting penalty or disqualification. Crossing the centerline at ANY time will also result in disqualification. Proceed to the turn around on Hwy 104 and return to the park. Traffic has the right-of-way on the road so ride CAREFULLY . The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and Cytomax, along with Clif Shot Energy gels will be available in the transition area.
Run Course
The run heads out of the transition area along a grass path to a wide fire road that loops around the lake for about 1 mile before returning to the transition area and finish.
