Money raised from the event helps the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-Atlantic - Inc. fulfill the wishes of children facing life-threatening illnesses. In 2002 - triathletes raised over $350 - 000 for wishgranting. Forty wishes were fulfilled because of the generosity of friends - colleagues - matching gift programs - etc.
