Good race for beginners with room to grow for all
Reviewed by: Shelly W, Tue Aug 21 2007
Price Paid: $55.00
Pros: small number of entrants, relatively no traffic
Cons: wave start in a small, shallow lake, animals allowed on course, USAT officials were not identified, no athena or clydsdale categories
Race started by waves which is a terrible idea for this swim location and not really necessary with the small number of athletes. A beach start every 7-10 seconds would suffice. Lake was too shallow to competively swim; many participants basically walked around the course. Animals were not kept off course. Bike portion was nice and moderately challenging. USAT officials were either not identified or non-existent. Run was nice, fast course. Great cause with great volunteers, but this event has room to grow.
